GAME OF THRONES

This summer holidays I saw a TV series called Game of Thrones and I'm going to talk about it.

Game of Thrones is an American drama, medieval fantasy and adventure series. It was created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO channel. It's based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series.

The series is set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos and tells different stories that happens at the same time in different places.
  • The first of the stories it's about the different dynasty houses in Westeros, some families are in constant fight for control the Iron Throne of  the Seven Kingdoms and others are fighting to become independent from it.
  • The second narrates the life of the exiled heirs of the previous ruler dynasty, and their attempts to claim the Iron Throne.
  • And the third tells the story of the Night's Watch, a military order which holds and guards the Wall, an enormous ice structure which separates the northern border of the Seven Kingdoms from the lands beyond, and protects the kingdom from the Free Folk and fantastic creatures.

The series has 6 seasons with 60 episodes in total. The first episode was released on April 17, 2011, and the sixth season finished on June 26, 2016.

Game of Thrones has a very extensive cast and there are a lot of main characters. But this series has a special feature: even the main characters, and the most loved, die, and others replace them.

In the first season, some of the main characters are:
  • Sean Bean as Lord Eddard "Ned" Stark, Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North.
  • Mark Addy as Robert Baratheon, King of the Seven Kingdoms.
  • Michelle Fairley as Catelyn Tully, Ned's wife.
  • Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister, Robert's wife and queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
  • Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Ser Jaime Lannister, Cersei's twin brother and Lord Commander of the Kingsguard.
  • Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, one of the last members of House Targaryen.
  • Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, a dwarf brother of Cersei and Jaime.
  • Kit Harington as Jon Snow, a bastard son of Eddard Stark and member of the Night's Watch.

Many scenes are filmed at Northern Ireland, Croatia, Iceland, Malta, Morocco, Spain, Scotland, and the United States.

The music for the series is composed by Ramin Djawadi. In my opinion it's incredible because it transmits the right feelings in the different scenes.

The series has received numerous awards and nominations. It has won 26 Prime time Emmy Awards, and Peter Dinklage has won 2 Emmys and a Golden Globe for his role as Tyrion Lannister.

In conclusion, I think this is an amazing series, with a great story, good characters and an excellent setting. I recommend this series to everyone, because it's exciting, with a lot of mystery, action and a very interesting plot that may change at any moment.
